The estimable Robert Hass quotes Mario Savio in his NYTimes op-ed on OccupyCal:

“There is a time … when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can’t take part. You can’t even passively take part.”

This month’s police aggression on campus has been intense and disturbing.  Thankfully there are professors like Hass who are speaking out.  Hopefully there will be change.
